Bonding
is a minimally invasive procedure used to restore fractured or cracked teeth or
to modify tooth shape and color, particularly in the anterior region.
Initially, the shade of the composite material is carefully matched to the
natural tooth color. The tooth surface is then gently etched to create
micro-retentive roughness, followed by the application of a bonding agent to
ensure strong adhesion.
After
placement, the composite material is shaped and polymerized using a
high-intensity curing light, and subsequently polished to achieve a natural
appearance. Bonding is most effective for small to moderate defects, as larger
restorations may be more prone to fracture.
